Twitterpatted

Ever since I read about Twitter over on kottke, I've been slightly obsessed with it.  I'm not sure why that is, but I'm having fun updating it with all the little stuff I do during the day.

I also finally managed to get short text messaging working on my phone, so now I'll be able to post on the go as well.

In addition to phone posting, I found a Firefox Search plug-in that allows you to post right from the Firefox search bar.  Since the IM function is down and it can sometimes take a while for the Twitter site to come up (I can only imagine what their bandwidth is like right now), this is a good, quick way to get an update in.

Thanks to Marshall, I also found a little program that takes the URL of the webpage and creates a shorter URL using TinyURL. Then you can send this shortened URL and a description of the web page to Twitter.  I haven't tried it out yet, but it looks pretty cool.

There's also Twittervision which is a real-time geographic visualization of posts sent to Twitter.  It's pretty neat watching the posts pop up all over the world.
